[Diagnosis and therapy of osteoporosis from the viewpoint of the gynecologist]
Abstract
Osteoporosis can be prevented fairly effectively by the administration of estrogen and androgen. Therefore, a screening procedure is necessary to detect high-risk patients who may not have any subjective symptoms. The endocrine profile is also very valuable in this respect. Estrogens and androgens can be used in the first line for prophylaxis, but they should also be considered for the treatment of osteoporosis.
