Abstract

It is essential that decisions about purchasing pressure-relieving products are made with reference to the results of clinical trials. This article, the first in a four-part series, outlines the criteria for choosing pressure-relieving products and sets the scene for a series of randomised, clinical trials of commonly used beds and overlays.
