Massive appearance of corpora amylacea in postnatal anoxic encephalopathy

H Abe et al. Clin Neuropathol. 1995 Jul-Aug.

Abstract

Massive appearance of corpora amylacea (CA) was reported in a 23-year-old male who had suffered from anoxic encephalopathy due to anesthetic accident in babyhood. The distribution of CA was unique compared with that of usual CA. In addition, the stainability with hematoxylin-eosin showed a distinct difference from subpial CA, though the ultrastructure was identical. The present study is to demonstrate a case with massive appearance of CA and to discuss this variety of CA, which could contribute to further studies of polyglucosan bodies.
