The cell membrane sodium pump as a mechanism for increasing thermogenesis during cold acclimation in rats
Abstract
Increased sodium pump activity is a major component of enhanced tissue thermogenesis in skeletal muscle, liver, and kidney of cold-acclimated rats. The sodium pump may play a major role in the thermoregulatory heat production during cold adaptation in mammals.
