Diagnosis of retinoblastoma by cytologic examination of the aqueous and the vitreous
Abstract
Cytological examination by aspiration of the aqueous and the vitreous can be an additional useful technique to aid in the diagnosis of certain anteriorly located unusual appearances of retinoblastoma with opaque media, particularly if the information from ultrasound is not available or is unsatisfactory. A positive cytological diagnosis should be immediately followed by enucleation. Personal experience is presented.
