Wound infections in Australia from halophilic vibrios

R J McSweeney et al. Med J Aust. .

Abstract

Halophilic vibrios were isolated from extra-intestinal sites of two patients. The organisms isolated, both apparently of marine origin, were probably pathogenic at their respective sites. It is suggested that extra-intestinal infection caused by halophilic vibrios may be more common than reported, and may be more easily demonstrated by the use of the Analytab Products Inc. (AIP) system.
