Skin lesions and environmental exposures. An overview for the occupational health nurse. Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry
Abstract
1. Dermatitis accounts for about 30% of all illnesses in the workplace; the prevalence of skin diseases caused by chemicals in the environment is unknown. 2. A through exposure history is the most important element in accurate diagnosis of skin lesions. 3. In some cases, skin lesions are a diagnostic clue to the presence of systemic toxicity.
