[An investigation into the levels of a trimethoprim-sulphamethoxazole combination in the ventricular fluid of neurosurgical patients (author's transl)]
Abstract
Results of measurements of Trimethoprim-Sulphamethoxazole (Bactrim, Eusaprim) levels in the CSF of seven patients with intact meninges are reported. The maximum fluid concentration of non-protein-bound SMZ was approximately 46.5%. The TMP value was 68.9%. With this combination of drugs it is possible to achieve a high CSF level of broadspectrum chemotherapeutic substances in neurosurgical patients.
