Radionuclide venography in the diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis
Abstract
Radionuclide venography (RNV) is a safe and simple procedure for the diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis. Its results correlate well with those of contrast phlebography. Both contrast and radionuclide venography were done for 103 patients, with an overall accuracy in diagnosis of 95%. RNV may also be used to assess the status of pulmonary perfusion. In this series, many clinically unsuspected emboli were diagnosed.
