Squamous cell carcinoma arising in chronic lymphoedema

R K Lister et al. Br J Dermatol. 1997 Mar.

Abstract

Two patients are reported in whom a squamous cell carcinoma arose in chronic lymphoedematous skin on the lower legs. Although lymphangiosarcoma is a well recognized complication of chronic lymphoedema, squamous cell carcinoma has only been reported on seven previous occasions. The pathogenesis of malignant tumours in chronic lymphoedema is discussed.
