Parenting a technology assisted infant: coping with occupational stress
Abstract
This article presents a brief description of the stress factors which families experience during care at home of technology dependent infants and children. The experience of stress and the coping strategies used by family members is organized in terms of the stages of adaptation to home care over time. In addition, the stress and how families cope with the stress is discussed in light of existing theories regarding occupational stress, especially as it relates to role strain, role captivity and role conflict.
