Renal changes after an uncomplicated antireflux operation
Abstract
Persistent defects were noted after successful ureteral reimplantations in 91 per cent of patients with preoperative pyelographic changes. The renal ratio between the kidney with reflux and its contralateral normal mate also was found to be static despite the eradication of infection. It is hypothesized that a degree of renal dysgenesis is not uncommon in association with reflux and may be the major factor in explaining these findings.
