Targets for health for all in the 21st century

Abstract

The implementation of the new global health policy "Health for All in the 21st Century" will be guided by global targets. Specific indicators will be developed to assess progress at all levels. This article outlines how these targets are directly related to the policy, indicating that the HFA targets are both inspirational and achievable. All 10 global targets will be discussed separately, exploring their epidemiological background and high-lighting the potential for the development of indicators.
